VERNER ERWIN

MARION — Verner "Al" Erwin, 68, of Marion passed away on January 10, 2014 at home with his family by his side.

Al was born in Lima, OH to his parents, Verner and Allie (Pack) Erwin who predeceased him. He is also preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Erwin. He is survived by his son, Jon (Carrie) Erwin; grandchildren, Michael, Logan, Emma, Ashley and Mercedes; Jeremy and Jon's mother and dear friend, Debra (Garry Bailey) Erwin; sister-in-laws, Connie (Joe) Turner, Robin (Dan) Mathewson and Joanna (John) Carson; brother-in-laws, Tod Lange, Rod Lange and Kelly Lange.

Al graduated from Lima Senior High School, served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of AMVETS. His greatest love was his family. He loved his grandchildren, attending all of their sporting events. He was also an avid sports fan and golfer. Al loved going to sprint car races with lifetime friends and racing buddies. Anyone who knew Al, loved Al. He was a strong and giving man, providing the shirt off his back to anyone. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Calling hours will be 2 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 with services to follow at Mt. Vernon Church of Christ, 947 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, OH. Interment of cremains in Marion Cemetery in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave. suite 300, Marion, OH 43302. Arrangements are entrusted to Day & Manofsky Funeral Service.
