ROBERT "BOB" Goodman

Obituary       https://www.houseofwheat.com/obituary/Robert-Goodman

Robert John Goodman “Bobby” 77, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Dayton on Monday May 8, 2023. Robert was born May 4, 1946 in Lima, Ohio. He as the youngest of Otis and Mary Frances (Beasley) Goodman’s children.

Even though Robert lived in Dayton for over 50 years, according to him, no high school in the Dayton area could hold a candle to Lima Senior High, his alma mater. Upon moving to Dayton, Robert attended Miami-Jacobs and graduated with honors with an associate degree in business. He went on to have a rewarding career at the Combined Health District, as a purchasing agent. He often bragged that he had been retired for almost as long as he was employed.

Robert believed that Trick-or-Treat was an official international holiday. He dressed up, lovingly scared children (and their parents) and gave out full-size candy bars for over 30 years. In fact, adults often went out of their way to bring their children to his home for the same Trick-or-Treat treatment that they received as children. Robert loved fast cars and never met a bottle of Old Grand Dad or Blantons that he didn’t like. Robert had a special affinity for Corvettes which led him to his wife, Karen. Together they shared the hobby of exhibiting their Corvettes in car shows across the state.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Karen Goodman; daughters, Myra K. Bozeman and Asmeret Tekeste-Green; grandsons, Henry IV and Myron; sister, Frances Erlyne Johnson of Lima; brothers, Mervyn (Gerri) Winston of Minnesota, Thomas “Terry” (Sandra) Winston of Texas; nieces, Paula (Carlos) Ramirez-Juarez of Dayton, Kristal Johnson of Lima and Alisha Richardson of Cleveland; nephew Greg Johnson of Columbus, and a host of family and friends.

Bobby was just about the first friend I ever had.  We were in 1st grade together, played at each other's houses, etc. One fall day, we both went down that large slide in the playground and ended up in a large mud puddle at the bottom.  Mrs. Headapohl, our teacher, took us both to a room in Horace Mann and put our pants in the dryer.  I will neve forget sitting there next to Bobby, both of us giggling, and both of us wrapped in a warm blanket given to us by that special teacher.  We never got to relive that moment.  Too bad.  Shame on me.
