Carol Rush Obituary

Carol J. (VanPelt) Rush, 77, of York, Pa., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Dec. 2, 2023, at Kingston Court Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in East York.

She was the loving wife of the late Clarence (Merv) M. Rush.

Carol was born in Lima, Ohio, on May 12, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Anita (Alspaugh) VanPelt.

She retired as a cashier from Kroger grocery stores and was a member of the New Life Church in St. Joseph, Mich., and Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Kenton, Ohio.

Carol is survived by her sons: Mark J. Plaugher and wife, Melinda; and Todd W. Plaugher and wife, Mindy; her stepdaughter, Caroline Dewese; and husband, Denny; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Schmutz.

The family will celebrate Carol's life around her birthday on May 12, 2024.

There will be a graveside service in Dunkirk, Ohio, where her ashes will be laid to rest with Merv in their family plot, and then a reception immediately following for family and friends who wish to attend.
