Clarence Powell

Lima News, The (OH) - Thursday, February 2, 2006 CLARENCE LEON POWELL JR, 59, Lima, died at 3:05 p.m. Jan. 30, 2006, at St. Rita's Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1946, in Eutaw, Ala., to Clarence Leon and Osie Mary Johnson Powell Sr., who survive in Lima. Mr. Powell retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1989 after working 22 years as a stock handler. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Army and served in Vietnam. He was also a member of the United Auto Workers Local 1219 and a 1964 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Survivors also include a brother, Carl L. (Julia B.) Powell of Lima; two sisters, Wilma J. (Wilmer) James of Lima and Barbara A. Lomax of Columbus; two sons, Jason Ward and Clarence L. Powell II, both of Lima; two daughters, Camille (Duane) Gaskins of Canton and Leslie Morris of Lim; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin L. Powell Sr. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Fayne G. Wise will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jones-Clark Funeral Home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
