William Godsey

LIMA -- William L. Godsey, age 76 of Lima, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 1:00 a.m. at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

Bill was born April 30, 1945 in Lima to Claude and Phyllis (Black) Godsey who preceded him in death. He was previously married to Rita (Henderson) Godsey who preceded him in death. On May 8, 1998 he married Helen Robinson Godsey who survives in Lima.

Also surviving are his children: Shonda Kay Godsey and William Leonard Godsey both of Lima; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and the following siblings: Bobby Godsey of Piqua, Phyllis "Nita" West and Carol Owens all of Lima.

He was preceded in death by the following siblings: Ronald Godsey, Tommy Godsey, Sr., Charles Godsey, Sr., Alan Godsey, Sr., Claude Godsey, Jr. and Beverly Stephenson.

He retired as a chemical operator from B.P. Chemicals. He then became a custodian for American Legion Post 96, where he was a member of the Color Guard. He attended Lima Community Church. He loved working with electronics. He was a bowler in a league and shot pool in a league. He loved riding fast on his Yamaha and Kawasaki motorcycles and his Corvettes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during Vietnam.

Memorial services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 18th, 2022 at the Shawnee Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, where military rites will be performed by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
